It has two important sub-disciplines which are physical chemistry and chemical engineering. As an alternative, green chemistry deals with the manufacture and design of chemical compounds that are either harmless or can be easily decomposed under conditions which make them safe for the environment. To achieve this, chemical engineers use computational modeling and simulation tools to investigate new processes which require a large amount of energy input. The growth of computers and their use in creating more sophisticated computational models has increased the number of chemical engineers employed in the field approximately 16% from 2007-2015. The growth of this profession is due to the wide variety of functional areas that can be addressed by this field. Previously, people were employed as technicians in industries such as petrochemicals or pharmaceuticals, but now they can work as product developers or process engineers for developing new ways to create new chemicals. For instance, one may apply thermodynamics, kinetics and mechanics to study liquids over a given period of time by using computer simulations. This approach is called modeling. The term 'chemical engineer' has different meanings in different countries. According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, the title “”means someone who applies engineering science to solve problems in industry (such as developing new products or processes, or improving an existing product or process),”’ whereas in Singapore, “”the holder of this title performs engineering duties which require an understanding of chemistry and physics principles for the purposes of utilizing chemical processes. It includes design and research responsibility for materials (and their components) and chemical properties involved in their manufacturing, regular use or application in industry’s production processes. ”’. The British definition of “”chemical engineer”’ is similar to its American counterpart, but the definitions in India and Australia differ from the British and American perspectives. “Engineering chemistry or chemical engineering, for example, is a very popular area in India and Australia where chemical engineers work on designing processes to develop new chemicals and their use in manufacturing. They solve issues such as how to recycle waste products into useful chemicals or how to recycle the water used to manufacture chemicals into drinking water. These engineers must take into account both biochemical and physical process parameters when they design these processes.
